I am fascinated with light and it's ability to both reveal and conceal. Infrared photography, which records light beyond the visible spectrum, emphasizes this ambiguous characteristic by obliterating visual information in reflecting light and revealing it in absorbing light; thereby representing what I feel in a place, but do not see. I translate the luminous quality of this medium into images that act as puzzle pieces to a narrative. I develop cryptic titles as clues to the meaning of the work hoping to entice the viewer to participate and decode visual clues. My narratives are often presented in pairs or in cyclical form to provoke the viewer to find common elements or to observe the synchronicty that connects my experiences. Chance and intuition are important elements in uncovering personal myth and are used symbolically throughout my work. These are not nostalgic or sentimental images, but the dark undertones and glaring overtones of stark visions and subtle observations that encourage further contemplation and discovery.
